Lucy Neish - Better than I expected, worse than I hoped
Night Café is pleased to announce the publication of Better than I expected, worse than hoped, accompanying Lucy Neish’s solo exhibition of the same name. Over years of meticulously keeping written records, photos, screenshots, and recordings, Neish confronts the inevitable slippages and gaps that occur in memory. In her paintings and drawings, these recreated records reveal how recollection is reshaped, and how the unreliable narrator of memory emerges. The book features an interview with the artist, a text by writer Billy Parker, and a preface by Maribelle Bierens. Film photographs shot for the publication offer an intimate view of Neish’s studio practice and artistic process.
