Night Café is pleased to announce the publication of ‘On Being Light and Liquid’, a new book dedicated to Mandy Franca’s ongoing series of the same name. Initiated during her residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam in 2024, the series resists oversimplified readings of the tension between personal limitation and societal freedom, offering a nuanced meditation on the complexities of existence. Through pastel on textile, sound, and sculpture, Franca constructs spaces where plural, contradictory, and overlapping realities converge, like clouds suspended in flux.
